About Creator's Critters
Creator's Critters rabbitry and caviary name was born in 2001, when a good friend and brother in the Lord, Dan Tombs helped me build this web page. I would like to thank him and his wife Shari for all the evenings that I spent "doing web page" at their house and for getting me into the Mac computer! For all the tea, cookies and wild concoctions of food Dan came up with to entertain us all. I still say malt vinegar and vanilla ice cream is a hit! I choose the name Creator's Critters because I only breed them. My great God, Lord and Savior is the one who has created these beautiful creatures for us to enjoy!
I would also like to thank Jody Mitchel for all her patience and knowledge she has shared over the years; Kim and Chris Posey for transporting home some of my first hollands home and for selling me some of my first Hollands. Susan Ridgewood for getting me started with a nice foundation of Hollands, Gail MacNeil for the knowledge and bunnies she has shared over the years, Stan Mobey and Jan Gosen also for the transport they have provided, and Cherie DeGrace for her friendship and fun times we have had raising these guys.
In cavies I would like to thank Rae Finlayson for my first peruvians as well as Chris Roach for my first two awesome black peruvians. A big thank you to Kelly Gilmore for Sunfire, what beautiful babies he has produced! You have wonderful stock!!! A big thank you also to Tracy of Fort York for some great roan and black peruvians and for the many emails and times we have shared. I have never met Tracy but I have really enjoyed our emails. Stephanie Flowers, thank you for my first beautiful tsw peruvians and silkie lines. Shirley Cunningham thank you for trading stock with me and for keeping the texels and roan peruvians going! I would also like to thank all of you have purchased my stock to help pay to keep this hobby alive! Last but not least I would like to thank my family for all of your help and patience and for having to look at a mom and wife with perpetual woodchips in her hair!
Thank you!
I have been raising rabbits since 1997and cavies since 1992. I first began with cavies. They were such a joy to have! I had no idea that they could be shown or that there were so many other people that enjoyed these little critters like I do. I raised pet cavies for 5 years until a met Jody Wonnenberg, now Jody Mitchel. She helped me tremendously and I learned so much about the health and care of my cavies as well as the world of showing. My 3 girls were also very involved and it was a nice way to spend time with each other enjoying these little critters. Jody also sold me my first rabbit, an English Angora named Tonya. She was a wonderful fawn doe who produced some great stock for me. I raised the English for several years and did well in the show ring with them. I ended up givng them up because I could see there was not much of a market for pet angoras. They take so much dedication and I got so many back that were in terrible condition that I made the decision to stop breeding them, though it was a hard decision to make, it was harder to see them come back to me matted and neglected. I didn't have a computer, and web pages just were not that popular "way back when!", so I wasn't able to market them as I would have liked to to other breeders that would have the dedication as I, for these most magnificent rabbits. I did not want to give up rabbits entirely and that is when I found out about the little Holland Lop. It was love at first sight! I have been raising Hollands for about 4 years, shown them for the past 2 years. They have brought great joy and enthusiam to my rabbitry. I love the variety of colors they come in and have always had an interest in the unusal, hence am concentrating on the rarer colors of Hollands. I also fell in love with the mini rex for their beautiful velvety coats. Again it is the rarer colors that I desire to breed, the tri-colored mini-rex. I would like to thank Julie Hickie, Alena and Cherie DeGrace for my first Mini Rex. I also have a big steel French lop buck named Kodiak, thank you Shirley for this wonderful gift, he is such a sweetheart.
