Glen Willow's Danny Boy - Harlie x Evans' Apricot - Broken Orange
Below is my first litter of Tri-colored lops. They were born October 6, 2004. A litter of 8 babies consisting of 5 tricolors and 3 harlequins. This is a cross between a Black harlequin Mini-lop and a Broken Orange Holland lop doe. I purchased Danny Boy, a Harlequin mini-lop to start my tri-color program as I was unable to get any tri-colored Holland lops. (But I have one now! Thanks to Bunny and Me Rabbitry, Pluto, a cute little harlequin, has joined Creator's Critters) Thank you Christine!
Danny boy is pure mini lop. All but 2 broken black mini lops on his pedigree, are either harlequin or tris. The original breeders I believe produced the first tri mini lops ever and have been doing so for many years. These lops are well established. Many of the tricolors I have seen have very little black spotting on them, though I have seen some exceptional tricolored hollands out there! Hats off to those who have produced such lovely color and type! Would love to get some stock from you but I will have to do it this way for now.... I really enjoy the challenge! To me the challenge is the best part!
Apricot is a broken orange doe and usually has beautiful big litter; this one is no exception. Although she looks like a "normal" doe she does carry the dwarf gene; she's had a few "peanuts." I think these two have made a very nice litter to start my tri-colored hollands. It will be hard to part with any of them!
They are now 3 months old. Take a look at them below. I am so impressed for a first generation cross! Apricot is due again with Danny Boy. Mid January 2005, I should have some more of these beauties!

Here they are pictured at 4 days old.

Very pleased with this litter so far! They have very tiny feet but thick bone and short bodies. Nice heads and crowns too. Being a large litter none of them are really big. Love the patterns and colors on these guys. Beautiful thick fur!

1.

Here the only harlie buck in the litter is a 4.5 weeks of age. He is a tiny buck and looks to have great type so far. Nice bone, head ears, short compact body, wide thick feet. This little fellow I reluctantly let go to a breeder friend (HoneyBunny Rabbitry) but like she said, "You can't keep them all!".....and she is right! :P I do not have recent photos of him, since she has him now. I can say he is maturing into an awesome buck. He is small and really nicely put together. He poses even better than my newly acquired purebred holland harlie, but I love the look of Pluto even if he doesn't like to pose! Pluto is a sweetheart too.
"Tri-Lite"
2.

Above "Tri-Lite" 4.5 weeks. Below Tri-Lite at 11 weeks.

Tri-lite is one of the Harlie does. Though she was a little on the bigger side as a baby she is turning out to be the lightest of the does! She has wonderful bone and is a wide, short doe with lots of depth to spare. She has a full chest with short thick legs. Her crown is wide and she has a "cheeky" face! What a beautiful "buck head!" She loves to pose. No ganglies for this girl. Too bad this color wasn't showable. She has definitely taken after her holland side of the family!
"Sparks"
3.

Above is "sparks" at 4.5 weeks. Below is her at 11 weeks of age.

Sparks is the other harlie doe in the litter. She was quite tiny and still is small but has a solid feel to her, so she may go over the 4 lb mark. She has very intense orange color and a nice pattern. She has a wide face, but her head is flatter or at least it appears that way than it was as a baby. She has tiny ears and a short smooth body, short bone and a wide chest. Cute as a button, or at least she was when she was a baby, sorry sparks....lol!
Passed away at 7 weeks of age.
4.

Here is a little orange faced doe. She is very wide in body and has a nice head developing on her. She has great ear and crown placement and her very thick ears. She has really matured. I didn't think much of her at first but she has really grown into herself. She has short legs, thick bone and a smooth well rounded hindquarter as all of them seem to have. Unfortunately this little doe died very suddenly at 7 weeks of age of weanling enteritis.
"Koi"
5.

Above is Koi at 4.5 weeks. Below is him at 11 weeks.

Koi is the one and only tri buck in this litter. He has a very nice pattern on his body. Lots of black spotting which I like to see. He has a short face with lovely curvature to his head. Nice "wrap around crown" developing. Though his ears appear a little pointed, they are actually quite nice. Koi has a wide body and decent bone. He was feeling a little "bucky" on the table and couldn't resist those doe smells on the towel so he wasn't into posing. Usually he poses quite well. He should make a very nice herd buck bred to my orange hollands. Unfortunately he got chewed by his neighbor in the cage next to him, but he is in a molt so hopefully he will have a nice coat for the shows.
"Tri Dye"
6.

Above is Tri Dye at 4.5 weeks of age. Below she is 11 weeks old.

Tri Dye looked very much like her brother above as a baby. I always had to check to see who I had, they looked so close in the cage. She also has a lot of black spotting. Love this doe's head. It is so flat and round and her crown is nice and wide. She has a very smooth short body. I love her full chest and short little legs. She is maturing nicely, though she is very solid and I have a feeling this girl might be bigger in size. Her main fault is her longer folded ears. She is very nice in body type and head. She also does well at posing.
"Tricycle"
7.

Above is Tricycle at 4.5 weeks. Below is tricycle at 11 weeks of age.

This little doe is one of my favorites. She is a very wide chunky little girl. She has a beautiful head, full cheeks, nice short face. Her ears look a little long but I think she will grow into them quite nicely. Tricycle has mass to her bone and is full and well rounded in her HQ. She also has that full chest and short legs that are characteristic of this litter. Love her color!
"I Spy with my Little Tri" aka "I Spy"
8.

Above is I Spy at 5.5 weeks of age (Nov 15/04). Below is she at 11 weeks of age.

I spy has become a real favorite around here! She is so sweet and gentle, I just love her personality! They all have great temperments but she had a little extra dose of sugar! She has a short, very wide compact body that is so characteristic of this litter. She is smooth and wide from shoulder to rump. Nice body on this girl, but her topline is difficult to determine since she doesn't like to pose. She is shaped like a holland but wants to take after the mini lop in her when it comes to posing! She has a beautiful head and crown; short thick shapely ears. She is a small solid doe who also has a gorgeous coat. I can't wait to breed her!
