Evans' Marble

(the little miracle!)

Roan Sow

Marble is a miracle! She was so tiny when she was born, I was certain she would not make it. She would not nurse, nor would she follow her mama around. She just sat in the middle of the cage and cried. I really felt sorry for her so I took her out and fed her goat milk for the first 48 hours of her life. In the past I have not been able to save many cavies so tiny and so I didn't have high hopes for her. She loved the goat milk!!! The next day she began to follow her mom around, but was still thin. I continued hand feeding every hour (every 4 through the night) until I saw her nursing. From then on it is history. She is a little fighter and I am so glad she survived! Look at her now! She is 5 weeks in this pictre and almost as big as her siblings! Look for future pics of this, my first, little roan silkie sow! Her pics below near the bottom are of her at 1 day old. See how tiny and boney she was.

Here is marble at 1 day old! Isn't she tiny?! She was the size of a small meatball.
