A tortoiseshell & white (TSW) cavy is described by ARBA Standard as patches of red, black and white hair. The color patches ideally alternate from one side to the other with a dividing line at the center of the back and belly, running from the head to hindquarters. TSW is to be judged on patches of clear cut distinct deep red and black color. The distribution is to be even and uniform in placement of all colors, with slightly more emphasis on distribution. Eyes dark. To be accepted tsw must exhibit at least one patch the size of a 50 cent piece or bigger of each black, red and white colors. other patches smaller or larger may be present. Faults intermixing or brindling of colors, splashes, bands of color running around the body. Within the tsw peruvian coloration, more emphasisis put on the coat being dense and soft rather than color. For current tsw stock available see the Cavies For Sale page.

Broken colored cavies are a recognised variety of the ARBA Standard. The standard describes a broken colors as a color to consist of two or more recognized colors with the exception of brindle, dalmation, dutch marked, himilayan, roan, tortoisehell, and tortoiseshell and white. Patching is to be as clean cut as possible and free from rough or ragged edges, smudgy or intermingling of color. Emphasis is on patches that are clean, clear cut and as distinct as possible, as many patches as possible, on distribution and that the distribution is equal and uniform in placement. To be an accepted broken color, there must be at least one patch the size of a 50 cent piece or larger of at least two of the colors present on the cavy. Other patches smaller or larger may be present. In broken agoutis the belly band does not constitute a separate patch of color. Faults are considered intermixing of colors, splashes, markings resembling dutch. DQ's are brindle, dal, dutch, himi, roan, tortoiseshell, and tortoiseshell and white. Within the broken peruvian coloration, more emphasisis put on the coat being dense and soft rather than color. I raise broken colored peruvians in golden agouti/red/white, red/white, black/white, golden agouti/white. For current broken stock available see the Cavies For Sale page.
