American cavies are a recognised breed of the A.R.B.A. Their standard is described as a cavy that is to a medium body length body, with broad shoulders. Americans are to have a roman nose, with a full, high crown. The coat should be short and silky. Ears are to match the variety description and be shapely, not fallen but slightly drooping. The ears are often described as rose petal shaped. Eyes are to be large and bold and bright and to match the variety description. Color is to match the variety description. Their condition is described as having firm flesh. American cavies come in a variety of colors. I breed them in the following colors: Black, Red, Dalmation, Golden Agouti, Golden Solid Agouti and Silver Agouti. See my for sale page for available stock.
